Take home a ceramic bowl donated by a Quebec potter

EMPTY BOWLS is a hunger-fighting fundraiser
that brings people together for a simple but nourishing meal of soup, bread and fruit.

Soup is served in a hand-made bowl donated by a Quebec potter, which is yours to keep. This year the event is a collaboration between the Congregation Dorshei Emet and the Unitarian Church of Montreal.

EMPTY BOWLS depends entirely on the generosity of donors, sponsors and volunteers.

Art students at Westmount HIgh

Unique to this year’s Empty Bowls Event, a collaborative project was created between the Visual Arts Centre and Westmount High School. As part of the VAC’s Outreach Programme, Westmount High students were invited to the centre for an afternoon in their professional ceramics studio. Under the guidance and instruction of Lori Litvack, an experienced ceramics teacher and artist, each student created a clay bowl. In all, five groups from Silvana Anania’s art classes participated in the project and 75 bowls have been donated to the Empty Bowls Project. There are more details at the EMSB site.
